I have summarised most of the arguments, texts and theorists needed for the exam. The intention of the site is to ensure that you are fully aware of the requirements of this of exam and that you have all the information necessary for you to achieve a Level 4 grade. I would also like you to pay attention to expression and use of keywords. You should now have this information in print form and digitally.
As revision advice I would ask you to ensure that you have a range of texts to discuss in both film and magazines that are both past and present. The likelihood is that the focus of the exam will be on the present but you can still refer to older texts and if there is a historical question you'll also be covered. As a thinking point you should also consider the likely ranges of representations of the female gender that we will see evolve in years to come and consider how these may have an effect on collective identity.
Finally, I would strongly suggest practising your essay technique in timed conditions. You will have one hour for the collective identity question and a half hour each for the other two (1a and 1b). Don't forget that for 1a you need lots of examples from your films and for 1b you need examples and theory. I have included in this guide a series of past questions. You are welcome to send me answers or ask for further guidance at any time – as long as it is not the morning of the day of the exam! The more you revise and practise your exam technique the more marks you'll get!
Good Luck to all of you.
